With the increase in employment opportunities in the hospitality industry, it has become a rewarding career option. To help students build a career in this lucrative industry, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), School of Commerce, conducted a guest lecture on "How to develop your skills to get placed in a 5-star hotel." The event was organized by Dr. G. Saravana Kumar, Associate Professor and Mentor, BMS-THM, and sponsored by INurture Education Solutions. The guest speaker for the session was Mr. Edwin Jonathan, Cluster HR Executive, Taj Group of Hotels, Karnataka.

The session started with a warm welcome to Mr. Jonathan with a bouquet. Dr. Kumar introduced the guest speaker to the audience. To initiate the session, the speaker showed a short video about the Taj Group of Hotels. Further, he asked students to introduce themselves and gave a presentation about Taj Hotels and brands. He spoke about the values of Taj and the skills students should develop to build a career in this industry. He highlighted the hotel's expectations from students like a good attitude, integrity, leadership qualities, inter-relationship, planning as per priorities, passion for work, and caring for the guests. The speaker elaborated on every aspect in detail with examples. He asked students, what is passion? To which he explained that it is wilful suffering to achieve a goal. He discussed the importance of grooming in the hospitality industry. He said if students are ready to work hard with passion and show interest to learn more they can be successful in the hotel industry. He added that hospitality should be in-built with hotel professionals. He gave many practical examples of hospitality and appreciated Dr. G. Saravana Kumar's event planning and hospitality.

The presentation was followed by a question and answer session, in which students cleared their doubts about internship and placement in the Taj Hotels. The speaker appreciated the Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) students for being a great audience. Mr. Jonathan also invited students to join the Taj Group of Hotels and experience the warmth of TATA Group.

At the end of the session, Mr. Ananth, Assistant Manager - Jain Placement Department, and Dr. Kumar felicitated and presented a memento to Mr. Jonathan on behalf of INurture Education Solutions. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sanskruthi, a final-year THM student.
