Cleanliness is crucial to leading a healthy lifestyle. Cleanliness should not only be limited to our rooms or houses but also include neighbourhoods and surroundings. The Cadets of 1COY/ 9KAR BN NCC HQ & PL NO1, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), conducted a cleanliness drive, Swachhata Hi Seva Hai, to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness in our society. The activity was held under the guidance of Major (Dr.) Rekha Sinha, Director - School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the School of Interior Design, in Shanti Park at Jayanagar, Bangalore on 2nd August 2022.
During this one-hour activity, the cadets spread awareness about cleanliness, its importance, and hygiene. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes and their types were also brought to light. The cadets highlighted the healthy hygienic environment and diseases like diarrhoea, dengue, malaria etc., which spread due to unhygienic surroundings. The cadets revealed that Swachhata Hi Seva Hai is the world’s largest cleanliness drive. They also discussed how garbage contributes to global warming and how to stop it by maintaining a clean environment.
The activity impelled the cadets and instilled an awareness regarding the importance of cleanliness. The cadets were motivated and looked forward to participating in more such activities.
