Due to biological and gender-related differences, being a man or a woman has a substantial impact on health. Women's health is of particular significance since they are disadvantaged due to prejudice based on socio-cultural influences. As part of the wellness activity of JAIN (Deemed to be University), School of Commerce, an online session was organized under the title, Women's Health for Society's Wealth. The event took place on February 14, 2022, under the supervision of Dr. Vidya Chandrasekar, Assistant Professor - JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), and Ms. Shwetha BV, Assistant Professor - JAIN (Deemed-to-be University).
The event's guest speaker was Ms. Swarnalatha V, a certified prenatal yoga trainer. Ms. Swarnalatha, a well-known personality, educates children with special needs in special schools for children and adults on an honorary basis. She is a yin yoga instructor with certification. With her affiliation to S.A.T.T.V.A, an organization dedicated to disseminating Sanskrit, Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, and the Hindu way of life, she is also extensively involved in learning and teaching shlokas.
The speaker emphasized the importance of yoga in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She began the class with an immersive activity that left the attendees feeling relaxed and refreshed. She looked at women's health from a variety of angles, including emotional, psychological, physiological, and physical. She also discussed menstrual and PCOD issues that women face nowadays and how yoga might help them overcome those. She advocated for a comprehensive approach to women's well-being, emphasizing the importance of regular "me" time. She ended her presentation by asking the participants to celebrate the women in them. The event came to a close with a question-and-answer session with the faculty members.
