The student society, ANTARAL - Pause & Be The Change, in association with Tata Croma, organised the event E- Ware to address the issue of electronic waste and its disposal. The event aimed at educating college students about the harmful effects of improper management of e-waste, which causes dozens of health hazards. The two-day event took place on the 13th and 14th of October 2022 and was conducted on the college premises.
Students and teachers were asked to come forward and discard their e-waste into an electronic waste box set up by our partners, TATA Croma. A sapling was planted in the name of every person who contributed to the cause. Even though the focus of the event was on the collection of electronic waste, the event also highlighted the lack of infrastructure available in the country for the processing of these wastes or even recycling them. It was highlighted during the event that it is the need for the hour to come up with and set up various ways and methods to dispose of various types of e-waste. E-waste collection, recycling, and treatment facilities and management of it should be implemented to ensure that people perform their responsibility to adopt sustainable measures to preserve the environment.
Antaral, in collaboration with TATA Croma, tried its best to raise awareness among the youth to find a solution for this major global problem.
