Saadhana Women’s Cell, in collaboration with JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), School of Commerce, School of Humanities and Social Sciences/CS, and IT, celebrated International Women’s Day 2022 at the university’s Jayanagara campus. The event took place on March 8, 2022, and had around 150 participants. Coordinators from the School of Commerce, School of Humanities and Social Sciences/CS&IT, along with other department heads commenced the program by lighting the lamp. The event comprised both physical as well as virtual mode. The chief guests included Dr. Asha - an educational scientist, Ms. Laxmi Krishna - an entrepreneur, and Dr. Apoorva Reddy - a gynecologist.
Dr. Asha spoke on womanhood. She also discussed the ways to overcome the prejudices of society and how women should stand out for their rights. She emphasized that women should stand up for their rights and feel strong and empowered. She also advocated that women should follow their passion and fulfill their dreams. She said, “Women Should dream big and try to achieve those dreams.” She also shared how firmly she believes that women should speak up if they are abused or hurt.
Ms. Laxmi Krishna in her speech mentioned that dreams and passions must be followed. She said, “Don’t criticize a woman who is different from you, instead encourage each other by supporting.” She asked the audience to focus on positivity around and avoid negativity.
She also mentioned various government schemes which can be utilized by underprivileged women.
Dr. Apoorva Reddy in her speech discussed myths and problems related to menstruation. She offered ways for women to balance personal lives and work. She explained how to handle stress and the factors causing it. She also focused on men’s health. She said, “Women should set goals and achieve them with their best potentials.”
Overall the event was a success and commemorated the spirit of International Women’s Day in the true sense.
