Having a streamlined operation process is one of the most vital elements of running a successful business; and the service industry, especially hotels, is no exception to it. Recognising the importance of the same, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) – School of Commerce, organised a guest lecture on Hotel Accommodation Operations. The session was delivered on 13th October 2022 for students of BMS-THM. It was a collaborative teaching activity to make students aware of contemporary practices in the industry.
The keynote speaker for the event was Mr. Neil Arthur Blazey, who is currently heading the Sales and Marketing of Le Roma Gardenia Resorts in Bengaluru. He is also the MD of Blaze Hospitality. Mr Neil offered a PowerPoint (PPT) presentation on the front office operations. He explained the guest cycle to the audience and said that the first impression is crucial. He also said that a front office is important as its primary function involves handling complaints, and thus it should have smart and efficient individuals. He briefed students on housekeeping operations and their importance during the Covid-19 period especially sanitising all public areas and protecting the guest and staff. Cleaning of guest rooms, and public areas, and maintaining the interiors was explained well. He also explained the importance of internships in hotels and the qualities required for getting into the hotel industry.
The insightful session enabled students to learn about the procedures followed during the guest cycle, housekeeping practices, and the importance of cleanliness and internship.
