A Virtual Summit on Global Securities Market – The Changing Landscape

Samshodhana, the faculty research cell, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), School of Commerce, in association with the Stock Market Institute, organized a virtual summit titled Global Securities Market – The Changing Landscape. It was a five-day summit from 4th to 8th April 2022.

On day one, the virtual summit began with the welcome address by Kishore BS, Co-Founder and CEO of Stock Market Institute. He welcomed participants and highlighted app-based learning as a value addition wherein all registered participants will learn capital market courses from basic to advance levels. Later, Dr. Raj Singh, Vice-Chancellor - JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), admired the theme of the summit. He threw light on the evolving ecosystem and incorporation of blockchain, ML, and AI. The session was followed by Mr. Jamie Coutts, CMT, CFTe, and Crypto Market Analyst for Bloomberg Intelligence and Board Member with the CMT Association, elaborating CMT program, agenda of the session, and different analytical approaches for investing in crypto markets macro analysis.

On day two, the session had two parts. The first part of the session was based on the commandments of investing by Dr. Prasanna Chandra, Director - Centre for Financial Management. Dr. Chandra explained the clashes between the economy and emotions related to investing. He also highlighted seven commandments of investing that take charge of your investments. The second part of the session, Green Finance, was taken over by Mr. George Littlejohn, Senior Advisor, CISI, and Editor - International Banker Magazine. He gave insights into aligning investments with ESG. He said, "Every financial decision should take climate change into account."

Day three also had two sessions. The first session focused on the global securities market, elaborating the summit's theme. The session was led by Ms. Deena Mehta, MD and CEO of Asit C. Mehta Investment Intermediates Ltd. She is also the first female member of the Bombay Stock Exchange. During the session, she gave insights into the evolution of markets, participants, and market practices. She focused on the safety and security of transactions in the stock market despite the large volume of transactions. The second session, titled The Global Securities Market – The Changing Landscape (academic perspective), headed by Abhilash Misra, CEO, NSE Academy Ltd. He addressed the gathering about the role of academics in helping the existing and prospective investors to understand the nuances of the market. He laid stress on the role of data in understanding the depth of the market and fintech applications.

On day four, research paper presentations took place. This session was chaired by Professor Sunitha BK and Dr. Sharmila A. Dr. Vidya Chandrashekar was the session coordinator. The session was well received by the enthusiastic participation of the delegates from different institutes.

On the last day, a panel discussion was carried out on the topic, Global Securities Market – The Changing Landscape. The panellists for the session were Mr. Feroze Azeez, Deputy CEO - Anand Rathi Private Wealth Management, Mr. Joel Pannikot, Head (Asia-Pacific) - CMT Association, Mr. Kapil Dev, Chief Business Officer - National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Limited, and Mr. Shivam Nayak, Founder - L Rezofin. Mr. Kirron Bindu, Professor (Finance) - ISBR, the moderator, began the session by introducing all the panellists and raising questions on behalf of the participants. The four panellists responded to the queries of the audience.

After the successful completion of the panel discussion, the concluding remarks and vote of thanks were offered by Mr. Kirron.
