With the motto ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’, the functional unit has been ably supported by the pro-active management of the college, the able administrators, and the NSS Wing of the Bangalore University. The NSS Wing of the college has run an extra mile to identify itself in the social service arena by making path-breaking efforts to institute service-mindedness in the youth of today.

Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College was granted permission to institute an NSS Wing by Bangalore University in the academic year 1994-1995. National Service Scheme (NSS) is a community service-oriented unit of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), School of Commerce, which started working in 2009. The unit's program coordinator at present is Dr. Sreenivasaiah. Around 200 student volunteers from the School of Commerce are serving in the unit.

The inspiration to serve has been guided by the socio-cultural ethos of community development, friendship, and fraternity. Rural development and youth empowerment for nation-building have been identified as the thrust areas of initiatives. The NSS students work beyond constraints to follow their ideals both in letter and in spirit.
